Local herdsmen successfully used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to seed tens of thousands of mu of grassland at an altitude of more than 3,600 meters in Waqi Town, Hongyuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, Wednesday, marking the first intelligent, scientific and large-scale seeding of high-altitude grassland in China.

However, due to the influence of air, terrain, temperature, wind and other aspects, the application of UAV in the agricultural field of high altitude area is still very limited.
At the same time, in the high-altitude grassland, a large number of livestock damage the grassland vegetation, and the traditional artificial seeding of grass seeds takes time and energy to move tens of thousands of mu of grassland, and the seeding is often irregular and uneven, so the grassland desertification has been very serious.Therefore, more scientific, more efficient way of sowing has become the common expectation of many herdsmen.

According to Peng Bin, head of Geofei technology, the uav, which took more than two years to develop, has overcome technical problems such as air and wind in high-altitude areas. Using remote sensing and artificial intelligence technology, the UAV can identify weak areas on the grassland and automatically generate "grassland AI prescription map".The UAV can carry out autonomous and accurate supplementary sowing according to the prescription map, greatly improving the sowing effect of grassland.
On The 25th, the reporter saw at the scene that three unmanned aerial vehicles loaded with grass seeds took off slowly under the operation of local herdsmen. The unmanned aerial vehicles can fly according to the terrain to ensure the uniform and fine seeding of grass seeds. They can also stay for a short time in the weak grass field to achieve variable operations.One minute, three uAVs each completed the task of one mu of land.
Statistics show that herdsmen can only sow grass seeds on average about 10 mu a day, while the operation efficiency of intelligent seeder is as high as 80 mu/hour, and 640 mu can be completed in 8 hours a day, equivalent to the operation efficiency of 64 labor forces.
Hongyuan County, as one of the representatives of sichuan grassland counties, has a grassland area of more than 10 million mu. If the intelligent large-scale sowing equipment can be widely used, it will greatly help the herdsmen to increase their income and restore the ecology.
